Jean Paul Gaultier is a legend of fashion and there should be no question why. Besides his friendly and sparkling personality, his work continues to push the bounds of fashion in design innovation and aesthetics in his own French style. This collection is not be as "edgy" as others, but I see this as a positive characteristic, as it shows Gaultier is not being edgy for the sake of it, but is putting his own spin on it. I just love the above skirt that Olga Sherer wears, it is made of fine, matte sequins that give it the appearance of a beautiful liquid slowly dripping. I think the rest of the collection speaks volumes and I'm sure you don't need me to point anything more out.

Want to know what the next big thing in fashion will be? Look directly above this sentence and there's your answer. One needn't be Anna Wintour to realise that these buttoned pants are going to be a big commercial success. They are cute, classic and the ballet flats create an overall girlish ballet-look. It is somewhat surprising that Karl Lagerfeld has incorporated so many pants into his collection, but then again, his pre-fall 2011 collection signalled a definite trend towards layering dresses over pants. Another variation of these pants are the sheer and embroidered pants/leggings, absolutely gorgeous.  The only problem is that they definitely will not suit every body type, they will ideally suit the tall and fairly slim or the petite. I was a little disturbed however, at how thin some of the models are, especially as even the stretch jeans are baggy on them. Chanel could go a long way by promoting a healthier body image, because let's all admit, there are not many people in this world with thighs the same width as their calves or ankles. Overall, I loved this collection, as you can probably tell with how many looks I have chosen, it was nearly impossible to exclude pieces. John Galliano has designed a masterpiece of a couture collection. It may not be "ready-to-wear" but it is most definitely "ready-to-wear" on the red carpet. His designs are lavish, innovative (within the bounds of couture), original, wearable and very fresh. I especially love the dress Ginta Lapina wears with the white "pencil scratches" one would see in a fashion illustration. They highlight the dress beautifully and give a classic look a modern edge. The very cinched waist of Maria Kashleva's dress is also different; one of the most extreme illusory appearances of a narrow waist I have ever seen. I cannot praise Galliano's work highly enough. Well done indeed.
