Out of 87 looks for this collection, I have chosen 13 which I found to be particularly beautiful, stylish and innovative. Although Chanel has a very distinctive look, there always seems to be a sense that it is being refined and bettered. I must also remark though that there were many looks I disliked. Some of the dresses, I thought, appeared unflattering in cut and strayed a little far from the Chanel brand, namely the rock chic look. I associate Chanel with elegance, a strong and refined mixture of masculinity and femininity (Coco Chanel's signature) and luxury. The looks I have posted above certainly fit in with that idea I have of Chanel. I always look forward to the Chanel show the most, and for a very good reason.

I was a little bit disappointed with the overall collection by Lanvin this season because although there were some stand out pieces, including that red dress modelled by Karlie Kloss (photo sourced from Garance Doré), it wasn't outstanding as a whole. Some of the pieces were very plain in cut, style and concept. Of course, that is my opinion only. But I have chosen the pieces above which I believe are the most original, interesting and beautiful. Hopefully next time we will see more of this careful drapery and body conscious style. 

* Note: I used the photo from Garance because most of the others available made the dress appear pink. This is not the case, as in the backstage photos it was clear that the dress was red.

This season Chloé there were a few surprises. As with the Fall 2010 RTW Collection there was still a range of beige, brown and white tones but this time, there was barely any bright additional colours. Also interesting was a return to ballet flats and the ballerina, floaty, feminine look - which has been present at quite a few shows now - Dolce & Gabbana and Lanvin spring to mind. Overall, this was a minimalist look - following a trend which has emerged over the last few seasons. It's refreshing to see such a return to inventive but simple drapery and purity of colour/tone.

These boys from New York, with their signature electric prints, have evolved significantly. This season that bold colour influence is still present, but they have branched out into tweed and a more 'ladylike' cut/style. Previously, their look had appeared more rebellious but this collection, to me, appears like a type of restrained edgyness. Well done.

Dolce & Gabbana finished their 25th anniversary with a huge show for their Spring/Summer 2011 Collection. There were a total of 80 looks in their show, hence why I have added so many photos to this post. They focussed nearly all of their attention on white and lace and the result was a triumph. The looks were feminine, strong, sexy and stylish - all of the things Dolce & Gabbana have always stood for but in a very fresh and streamlined way. I would buy all of their looks above in a heartbeat.

The Versace collection happened to be a little bit too kitschy for my taste. See here for examples of stereotypical Greek style prints. But alas, there were some classic pieces, as I have chosen above.
